Derek Cardigan glasses...to giveaway

News alert. You have just over a week to win a pair of women’s or men’s Derek Cardigan glasses. Post a comment on why you want a pair, and they could be yours. End Saturday April 21.

Actually I have an admission to make. God I sometimes wish I had the sort of eyesight that needs glasses. I get envious of people who look smoking hot in specs. Librarians? Don’t get me started. Especially when I come across something like Derek Cardigan’s line of eyewear. It’s vintage inspired, it’s bold but it’s subtle, it’s Mad Men it’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. But his evocation of some sort of bygone swinging era has been bought forward with a new twist of colour, and style.

I’m really impressed with the range, and they’ve occupied a hard to fill niche, which focuses on affordability while not sacrificing the quality. There’s not many in that space I can tell you.

The best thing is YOU get to choose the style. Go to Clearly Contacts have a look, and then post below. Seriously, go have a look. It’s a pretty fierce range. You lucky little …

As the Director of a group of museums in wellington the Derek Cardigan glasses would help me to ptrrovide the approprite air for my role. Already owning a rather nice blue cardigan all I woudl have to do is dash out and gather up a bow tie. So my promise to you is if I win I will forward you a photo of me just so sartorially suited...

Oh boy! I would love to win a pair of Derek Cardigan glasses as it's my birthday on 21 April, and, as my current pair of specs have become very sad and tired over the years, I couldn't dream of a better birthday present! Thank you!

I desperately need a fashionable pair of glasses. Would actually make me wear my glasses more so my eyesight doesn't get worse. Just can't afford a new pair. These are beautiful! tyler.horton@live.com

Ooh, those specs look gorgeous. I'm loving the current inspiration from the 60s/70s; people just knew how to make fabulous glasses back then. Uni makes it hard to splurge on a decent pair but even if I don't win I may have to make an exception for these.

Don't mind me, I'll just be in the corner watching them madly...

I've been living in denial for a few months but I think I'm finally ready to admit that I need glasses. Badly. The deterioration of my eyesight is gutting but a pair of specs from Derek Caridgan would be the push in the right direction for me to see clearly again! Even if I don't win, I think I've found the glasses for me - thanks for the post!

Wallace, you should just get some with plano lenses in!

When I am an eccentric 60 year old writing a novel I shall wear glasses like this.

Spectacularly Bespectacled!

They would look super fly while I sing The Chills' song Love My Leather Jacket with new lyrics "love my Derek glasses". I can follow up with The Gordons' song Just Can't Stop starting with "Sometimes, when I look in your (newly bespectaled Derek Cardigan) eyes. Oh yeah, sing it!

I'm dying to win! I left my current glasses at a pals house who subsequently lost them, rats. I have had a pair of Derek Cardigan 7004 in green tortoiseshell in my 'basket' on Clearly Contacts forever but for various reasons I can never seems to be able to afford them!

Fingers crossed...

I love the 7004 Rootbeer and Birch, and all of the tortoiseshell ones, too, of course :)

Why didn't I keep those retro glasses I hated to wear when I was seven!?!? ... At least Derek Cardigan knows how to make 'em like they did in the good ol' days. What I wouldn't do for a pair of the 7012's or 7011's in ANY colour! Hook me up and aid in my childhood nostalgia! Cheers. ben.doyle@ymail.com

Awesome giveaway! I would love to win this because my daughter very happily pulled the arms off my glasses some months back. I attempt to glue them but every now and then they fall to pieces and I am without eyes for a period of time. *crossing fingers*

I love, love, love Derek Cardigan specs - I'm wearing a pair right now, but really want another pair to add to my glasses stash.

My eyesight is atrocious, so I figure why not make the most out of a bad deal and rock cute specs?

That saying, "boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" is COMPLETELY untrue in my experience!

Cardigan, Cardigan, cardigan glasses. My eyes are deteriorating as time passes. My life needs a bit of style. I would love to be able to see my gals smile. So throw some tortishell on my face and I shall wear Derak's glasses with grace!

I love Derek Cardigan's range! I've always hated wearing glasses because they're in the way and such an inconvienence. But this range is amazing and I think I'd want to wear them more often than contacts!

I've been needing to get glasses for a while now... I can barely see 5 metres in front of me which is becoming a slight issue. Specsavers were trying to convince me to buy, not one, but TWO pairs of their shitty, shitty frames for a bargain of $60. I kindly refused and I said "These are fucking hideous" and walked out. But these Derek Cardigan frames have definitely taken my fancy. And I also love cardigans which is an added bonus. Make my first pair of glasses the best pair of glasses I'll ever have. LOVE.

As a performing violinist and youth advisor to the Ministries of Health, I'm constantly meeting new people all over the country and my glasses are a big part of my image. I've always wanted to try 7013 tortiseshell specs to add a splash of vintage colour to my look. Do you think they'd suit me?

I've worn specs since the early 80s when they definitely weren't fashionable and 'four-eyes' was a pretty mean insult to a 10-year-old. Despite this, I've been wearing glasses for almost 30 years. I can remember pretty much every pair I've owned since those first ones (obviously the trauma was too great). In the late 80s I wore some frames with 'upside down' arms a la Deidre Barlow; alternative black cat's eye frames in the late 90s; some skinny rectangular black frames in the 2000s (which I recently pulled out when my Dutch-designed tortise-shell ever skinnier and more rectangular frames(2007-2011) fell apart; now I'm wearing some rounder tortise-shell Oliver Peoples frames that more than nod to the ones I wore in the early 90s.
I'd love to have more than one pair to put on - think about it, do you have more than one of anything else you have to wear everyday - and feel like I've done my bit towards the cause (well, maybe not the Deirdre Barlows), casting aside nasty words from my contemporaries in the pursuit of making wearing glasses something a person'd choose to do.

Wow, great glasses! My dog chewed the arms of mine about three years ago, but they still cute so I just put up with them, now I can't afford to change them cos I've started Uni, so I guess if I don't win any, I'll just keep putting up with them :-) Mind you the pricing on this range is fantastic!
